Volkswagen Mishap

I remember the time Lisa Bjornson and I borrowed Jeff Mullock’s (Patsy Lester’s boyfriend at the time) Volkswagen on our lunch hour. Neither of us knew how to drive standard so agreed not much could happen if she just turned the ignition and didn’t touch the pedals. Well, needless to say we drove right through her Mom’s garage door!! We were laughing so hard and we couldn’t even move as there was glass everywhere…even in our bras! Don’t think Jeff thought it was as funny. Months later the door was still caved in and it was used as a ‘landmark’ on our bikeathon map.

Good times….good times…

Lynn Valley Corner Store

The corner store at Lynn Valley Road and Dempsey has a long history.

Years ago, there use to be two stores across from each other. One on the Lynn Canyon side of the corner and the other on the inside edge of the corner. The Lynn Valley bus used to stop right in front of them.

The store on the Lynn Canyon side eventually disappeared but the other one still stands strong.

A favourite stop on our way to Lynn Canyon, Mrs. Orom’s or after playing at Kilmer Park this Lynn Valley landmark is part of many memories.

Lynn Valley Corner Store Now

The Lynn Valley corner store has been revitilized. Connie (Olsen) is now the owner of the store and has renamed it The End of the Line General Store.

Today, The End of the Line General Store is more than just a corner store. It still carried penny candy, beverages and snacks but also has specialty foods, great coffee and a deli bar for quick goodies to enjoy on your walk to Lynn Head Waters, Lynn Canyon Park or to enjoy on their outdoor patio.

Thanks Connie for keeping a bit of Lynn Valley history alive and well.

Argyle Secondary Now

While the Organizing Committee was at Argyle Secondary School taking pictures for the North Shore News article, I took some pictures at the front of the school.

Les Wilson Memorial Fields

The soccer and football fields are now named the Les Wilson Memorial Fields to honour Mr. Les Wilson, one of our P. E. teachers, passing.

A few more trees around the tennis courts…

New Gym

The New Gym isn’t so new now! The seating area we had has been replaced with regular benches. Hey, didn’t we have a fund raiser to put that seating area in?

Not too much has changed on the outside:

But they have done some painting inside the Gym.

Added a welcome message and mascot to the wall,

Painted the school crest at the center of the basketball court,

Courtyard Entrance

There’s a new canopy at the courtyard entrance.
